EPS




The new batteries are performing well with the full SOC continuing to
increase. The peak observed SOC as of 5-21-09 4:30pm EDT was
490Ah. Due to the relatively low load ranging between 58 and 65A, the
charge system continues to have orbits where the battery voltage does
not decrease to the charge-on threshold. Orbits where the system does
not reset and deliver a full charge rate are still achieving a healthy
475Ah. EPS expects this no-reset behavior to cease once the electrical
loads increase due to SI operations. While this behavior is different from
previous operations, EPS feels that performance is more than adequate
as the SOC continues to increase and the battery temperatures remain
low.
Battery temperatures remain stable, ranging between -4 and 0 deg with
redundant heaters occasionally cycling.
EPS is assessing the voltage characteristics of the new batteries vs the
old batteries as the voltage decay during discharge appears to be not as
steep as the old batteries.
EPS will also begin assessing the SI loads as the instruments are put
through their paces during SMOV.

SI Status

WFC3
 Hickey; The test SMS to patch the WFC3 DEB and CEB box and board
temperature safing limits to -15 C as opposed to -13 C during the
transition to Operate has been run in VSTIF and verified. Note that -15
C is our Operate temperature, so we're not going into unknown territory.
 Hickey; couple more d/b items need to be adjusted. Changes at STScI
in work, will be tested in VSTIF.
 FORWARD PLAN;
• Recovery to Operate and memory dumps on DOY 145
• OR 18444-0 submitted to reset WFC3 OBCP and VCHP
setpoints to their current values (19.8 and 14.8 degC) following
recovery




COS successfully transition to operate at ~ 142/10:32. The FUV DCE
successfully transition to operate at 142/10:52. No limit violation
observed and the instrument is performing nominally. The CS exec RAM,
EEPROM, PROM, DIB RAM & PROM and DCE memory were collected
and transferred to the SSR, the SSR is scheduled to be dumped to the
ground ~ 9:30 am EST this morning.
COS internal pressure is currently at 3.5x10-6 torr, we are on schedule
for opening the FUV DVA door at 11:00am EST this morning.

FGS/OTA
 All 4 GSAcqs (1,3,1) have been successful.
 FGS2R2 ITS test successful. More detailed results will be presented
tomorrow.
• Some mneumonics flagged that were not covered in Ops Note
1831. Ops note is in the process of being updated.
 All hardware nominal.
 Ops Note to turn off limits related to FGS2 STOP flag opened for the ITS
tests. This is set to expire when the FGS2 POS mode astrometry is
scheduled for FGS alignment at 159/02:30. This should be the last use of
FGS2 prior to its initial GSAcq (173 or later SMS).
 4 FGS (1,3) acquisition (see plots on included charts). Acquisition
success has negated the need for the FGS/FHST alignment proposal.
 FGS2R2 ITS test results compared to CP step 129-3 will be Included in
tomorrow’s report (delta FL-DV ITS position, CT/FL bias)
 FORWARD PLAN;
• 5 more 1,3,1 GSAcqs in next 24 hours use stars that have not
been previously observed.

ACS

ACS was recovered from Safe mode to WFHROper mode (HRC and
WFC TEC enabled skipped as planned) via stored commanding. The



HRC Backpowering was also skipped since ACS Event Flag 7 was set to
prevent its turn-on (see HSTAR 11829).
The ACS CEB-R initialized and all ACS temperatures and voltages are
within family for a cold safe mode recovery.
Memory dumps will be collected starting at 142/10:!5 and ending at
142/10:20. These dumps will be played back off of the SSR around
142/14:00 (9:00am) and then analyzed by Payload FSW.

DOY 142
