EASTER PARISH RETREAT AT
EASTERN POINT, GLOUCESTER –
THE SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT
COMMISSION OF ST. IGNATIUS
This annual retreat is an opportunity to
enter more deeply into the mystery of
God’s love for us. With directors from
the Spiritual Development Commission, you will
have an opportunity for spiritual conversation, silent
prayer and gatherings of prayer and worship with
members of the parish community. The retreat will
be held Friday, May 2nd to Sunday, May 4th . The cost
for the weekend is $200 (all inclusive), with a deposit
of $100 at registration. If anyone is in need of
financial assistance in order to attend, please let us
know. There are still ten places available. Please
register through the parish office 617-552-6102, or
ignatius@bc.edu.
will be holding a general meeting
on Sunday, April 13th, at 6:45 pm in
the Rectory Conference Room. We
will be discussing new ideas for spiritual life in
the parish as well as hearing about how well we are
meeting the spiritual needs and desires of
parishioners. We are also seeking new members to
augment the breadth and depth of the Commission.
Everyone is invited to come to offer their ideas and,
especially, if you would be interested in becoming a
member of the Commission. We will meet to discuss
how we might go forward, when to meet regularly,
and what our identity will be. Please come if you can
and invite others whom you think would be
interested or helpful.
SALTATE ET JUBILATE (SJ DANCE) - SUNDAYS - 3:00 – 4:30 PM
Using sacred music, the dancer is invited to find the connection between body, soul and spirit.
Capitalizing on his dance and teaching experience from the past 30 years, Fr. Bob VerEecke S.J.
has developed a way of dance that helps those who love to dance and want to make a connection with their
Spiritual journeys. SJ Dance is rooted in the Jesuit principle of Finding God in All Things. ($10.00 per class)
Contact Jamie Huggins at blde.org or 617-552-6130 for more information. Classes take place at the Brookline
Academy of Dance Location: 136 Westbourne Terrace, Brookline, MA.
PARISH FINANCIAL RESULTS - The 2008 annual parish support program, The Pledge for the Greater Glory, is
currently underway. The goal of the annual support program is to have every parishioner pledge his/her
contribution to the parish for the 2008 calendar year. Contributions via this program are used to cover the
operating expenses of the parish, including staff salaries and benefits, utilities, and the cost of our liturgies,
including musicians. It is never too late to join the Pledge program. If you need a Pledge form, they are available at
the back of the church and online at: http://www.bc.edu/bc_org/prs/stign/.
Our financial performance over the past two months and since the beginning of our fiscal year in July has been
good thanks to your pledges. We ask that you continue to support the parish, and increase your support if possible,
to help us cover what we expect will be much higher operating costs over the remainder of 2008.

members of Gay and Lesbian Catholics, we are
providing an informal context in which people feel
free to talk about their questions and concerns. Please
call Fr. Bob at the rectory or email frvereec@bc.edu
We strongly urge our parishioners and visitors not to
leave their belongings in the pew when they leave to
receive Communion. Please take them with you.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS! JOHN
BELL COMING TO SAINT IGNATIUS
Internationally known composer and
clinician John Bell will be coming on Friday,
April 18th to St. Ignatius and All Saints Church,
Brookline.
He is well known for his spirited
presentations on congregational singing and social
justice and his music is a part of our song repertoire
here at St. Ignatius. John will present at Saint
Ignatius at 2pm for those interested in musical
leadership, and at 7PM at All Saints Church on
Beacon St., Brookline, for a high energy evening of
singing and philosophizing open to all. Donation at
the door is $15 per session or $25 for both. We are
looking for someone who might be able to drive John
to Storrs, CT. after the evening session in exchange
for free attendance. Contact Michael Burgo at 617552-6108 or burgo@bc.edu.
OUTREACH MINISTRIES
SHATTUCK SPRINGTIME MEAL: Sign-ups continue this weekend for our Sunday, April 13th meal at
Shattuck Shelter.
Food donations and crew workers are needed. Sign-up sheets and reminder cards are on
the Outreach table in the upper church gathering space. Reminder: this is the last weekend for sign-ups!
ST. IGNATIUS HABITAT FOR HUMANITY PROGRAM –
PLEASE SUPPORT OUR TEAM. Continuing a parish tradition, a
hearty band of St. Ignatius volunteers will be donating their physical
labor at a Habitat for Humanity housing construction site in Dorchester
on April 24th. Habitat is a non-profit, ecumenical organization dedicated
to building simple, low-cost homes in partnership with low-income families in need of decent housing. You can
support the St. Ignatius team by signing up as a sponsor to help underwrite the cost of building materials. A
pledge form is available at the rear of the church, on the Outreach table. For information about joining a
future St. Ignatius Habitat working crew, contact Anton Finelli at afinelli@crmcx.com.
28 DAYS AND COUNTING!
Registration materials for the May 4th Walk for
Hunger are on the Outreach Table in the gathering space and on bulletin boards at church
entrances. Registration papers for volunteers are on the table, as well, as is a form for
monetary sponsoring. Online registration (for walkers and volunteers) and pledging can be
done at www.projectbread.org.
WE KNOW YOU’RE OUT THERE! Each year, many parishioners participate in the Walk for
Hunger with friends, family and co-workers. Since they do so, the rest of the parish family has no idea just
how many parishioners take part in this huge effort, aside from those who comprise TEAM IGNATIUS.
We’d like to know who you are!
Please, if you would, sign your name to the poster at the Walk display in
the gathering space. Just imagine how many miles and/or hours of volunteer service are completed and how
much money is pledged by St. Ignatius members!
