THE PARISH RETREAT AT EASTERN POINT IN GLOUCESTER is scheduled for June
4th – 6th.
We are aware that the month of June is a particularly busy one for people. If
you are interested in coming to the retreat it would be helpful if you could call the rectory
(617-552-6102) now to Register. We hope that you can take advantage of this opportunity for personal
renewal and refreshment. In particular, if you have never experienced a retreat or if it’s been a long time
since your last one, we especially invite you to join us. The cost of the weekend is $200 with all meals
included.
CALL FOR PARISHIONERS INTERESTED IN SERVING ON THE PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL
The St. Ignatius Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) seeks new members for a 3 year term beginning
September, 2010. If you are interested in serving on the PPC or know someone else who might be
interested, please contact Fr. Bob at 617-552-6110 or frvereec@bc.edu. The PPC is an advisory body to the
pastor and has as its primary focus assisting the pastor in planning for the future of the parish. Updating
and monitoring the implementation of the Parish Pastoral Plan is one of the major functions of the
Council, in addition to specific planning initiatives. The PPC aims to be broadly representative of the
parish in its composition. We especially invite young adults (ages 22-40) to consider serving on the
council.

OUTREACH MINISTRIES
MOTHER CAROLINE ACADEMY AT-THE-DOOR COLLECTION:
This year, we’re continuing our annual collection to support MCA
parents by assisting them in purchasing school uniforms. We’ll have
our at-the-door on the weekend of June 5th/6th. To learn more
about MCA, go to: www.mcaec.org.
FOOD DRIVE: In June, we’ll be joining with other Newton congregations in
collecting food for Newton’s food pantries. The food pantry shelves become very
empty as summer approaches, so our collection of non-perishable foods will play a big
part in keeping up with the requests. As we know, hunger does not take a vacation.
The Drive will take place June 19th/20th.

2010 CATHOLIC APPEAL - CALLED TO LOVE AND SHARE
Stewardship reminds us to count our blessings, acknowledge God's gifts to us, and express thanks to
Him. We do this by a proportionate giving of our time, talent and treasure. We sincerely thank the
[number] households in our parish who, as good stewards, have made a gift to the 2010 Catholic
Appeal. You are helping many people with many needs. God calls us to share what we have to help
others. If you have not yet made your pledge, envelopes are available at the back of the Church. Or for
more information, please visit www.BostonCatholicAppeal.com or call 617-779-3700. Every gift matters.
Thank you!

We had such a great response to our students’ sale of St. Ignatius apparel this past
weekend that we will be selling the t-shirts, sweatshirts, and sweatpants in all sizes
on May 9 (we’re re-stocking).
Show your support for Haiti and St. Ignatius by sporting stylish t-shirts, sweatshirts, and sweatpants
with “St. Ignatius” on them. The money raised will be donated to Jesuit Relief Services to contribute
to their work in Haiti.
Saint Ignatius t-shirt (gray with blue lettering), $15: available in YS, YM, YL, S, M, L, XL, XXL.
Saint Ignatius hooded sweatshirt (blue with gray lettering), $25:available in YS, YM, YL, S, M, L, XL, XXL
Saint Ignatius sweatpants (blue with gray lettering), $25: available in YS, YM, YL, S, M, L, XL.
On the sweatpants, sizes generally run smaller than traditional sweats, so please order up a size or check
them out on Sunday before purchase.
We will be selling our garments in the downstairs kitchen after the 10am liturgies on SUNDAY MAY
9th. Printed in New York on high quality, American-made garments. It'll be the most comfortable attire
you have! Unless you have a really nice robe or something. And 100% of proceeds go to the Jesuit relief
efforts in Haiti.
A Prayer for Generosity
Dear Lord, teach me to be generous,
teach me to serve you as you deserve,
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wound,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labor and not to seek reward,
save that of knowing that I do your will.
