Within the next year I will be leaving St. Ignatius and you will have a new Jesuit pastor. As you can imagine, this is not something I would wish or hope for. I love the parish and have been blessed so profoundly with so many graces over these years. The advantage of the longevity is that I have had the privilege of becoming part of your families. I have baptized your children, witnessed their marriages and performed funerals for your loved ones. I can’t even begin to count the number of liturgies I have presided over in these 26 years. I have asked that I be able to remain with you through Easter of 2016 so I will have the opportunity to celebrate Holy Week with you once more. Although my departure is not imminent, I wanted to make sure you heard about this from me. St. Ignatius is a wonderfully vibrant and dynamic parish. I am sure that it will continue to be a place of graced encounter with God and an even more dynamic community of faith in the years to come. I am so grateful for all of you and look forward to the time that remains for me here as your pastor. Sincerely, Fr. Me alegra que me voy a quedar casi un año para seguir celebrando la Santa Misa con ustedes y tocar el violín Sinceramente, Padre Bob Congratulations to theses Adults who have embraced their Catholic Faith (RCIA): * The Newly Baptized - Colby Delisle, Erik Dang, Jenna Fankel and Whitney Woodmansee * Our New Catholics (entered into Full Communion)- Cindy Jones, Brian Barnett, Julie Field, Kristy Barnes * Our Newly Confirmed: Sergio Ferreira * The Elect who awaits Baptism at Pentecost - Belinda Nwagbara With Joy our St. Ignatius community welcomes you and pledges to support you through our prayers and actions. BOOK DISCUSSION On Sunday, April 19th at 11:15 am, in the Parish Office, there will be a discussion of the book Oscar Romero: Love Must Win Out by Kevin Clark. This biography of Archbishop Romero is an in-depth look at this pastor-defender of the poor who will be beatified on May 23rd in San Salvador. The book traces events leading up to the assassination of Archbishop Romero at a chapel altar in San Salvador and the reverberations of that day. The author offers a Catholic understanding of liberation and how to be a church of the poor, for the poor, as Pope Francis reminds us we are called to be. Please mark your calendar and join us on April 19th for the discussion. CONFIRMING FAITH Join us today, April 19, from 3:30 – 5:00 in the choir media room for an adult look at the deeper meaning of the Sacraments and what they mean to us.
