ONSLOW COUNTY IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER M/F/D/V Position Responsibilities The primary purpose of this position is to provide expertise to the agency and county in the area of the maintenance, and accounting of the agency trust accounts. This position is the backup for the monthly 1571 reimbursement report and payroll bi-monthly. One of this position’s major duties is the verification and processing of check requests for payment to vendors for the Crisis Intervention Program, (CIP) and Project Share (CPL). This position will also work on the XIX Report for Medicaid transportation reporting. Tracks and submits for payment travel advancements and reimbursements. Will be cross-trained to handle all other assigned duties instructed by the immediate supervisor and the administrative director as needed. The position gathers, selects, and complies accounting statistical data in terms that are meaningful with management through expenditure accounts that reflect both the budget amount and the expensed funding. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Considerable knowledge of: bookkeeping and accounting principles; established governmental and departmental budgeting and bookkeeping practices and procedures; office practices and procedures. Ability to: maintain effective working relationships with agency employees, as well as the general public; present information clearly and concisely in oral and written form; understand, interpret and apply the laws and regulations governing the maintenance of financial records; prepare fiscal reports and analysis of financial statements; plan, organize, prioritize, and schedule work independently; operate computer, adding machine and other office equipment with accuracy. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Graduation from a high school including or supplemented by basic courses in bookkeeping or accounting and three years experience in bookkeeping or accounting clerical work in an accounting office; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Completion of a one or two year business course in an accredited community college or business school including or supplemented by basic courses in bookkeeping or accounting may be substituted for two and three years of the required experience respectively.) Special Requirements Must have a valid driver’s license and be in compliance with the Onslow County’s insurance regulations. Must have access to a telephone and a vehicle.
