Position Responsibilities The primary purpose of this position is to independently interview Medicaid recipients, assess and determine eligibility for authorization of transportation assistance for the Title XIX transportation program. Review assessment form at each request for transportation to ensure proper transport according to State/County guidelines and set certification period for services. The available resources are the Medicaid manual for federal and state policy for Title XIX Transportation, Eligibility Information System for client’s eligibility and agency policies and procedures. The position handles urgent deadlines for transportation requests on a daily basis for necessary health care. Position handles contact with numerous outside agencies (i.e. doctors, hospitals, lodging for attendants, vendors, etc.) to ensure proper transport and cost effective services. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of: office practices and procedures. Ability to: communicate with clients, applicants, and the public to obtain data; explain and interpret rules, policies, and procedures; understand the needs and problems of clients/applicants; learn the program area of assignment and all agency programs and services which could affect the client/applicant; schedule and coordinate a variety of appointments; operate computer equipment and access computer data bases. Skills in: mathematical reasoning and computational skills.
