Not applicable Status Discontunued Assessment Plan Core Activity KPI Target Outcome Plan Leadership CAPC – leading meetings Provide summary reports of teaching and non-teaching year-end reports and guiding themes from Year-end Performance Report to mini-CAPC group meeting and full CAPC. Continuing with precedence from last year and expanding on the process, ensure that the initial CAPC meetings have meaningful information about campus-wide issues and challenges that have been cited in the year-end reports; this process is central to comprehensive, integrated, and sustained assessment as it ensures that findings from the previous year inform thinking about the new year. Assessment Plan Core Activity KPI Target Outcome Plan Leadership Strategic planning – leading focus groups and open hearings Conduct a focus group for department chairs, HEOs, and student leadership and two open hearings in spring 2012. Continue to use, with some modification, the PowerPoint presentations used last year, as this provided important context and allowed for a more focused discussion without overbearing detail. Administrative support of strategic planning and completion report Year-end Report preparation Providing clear guidelines and direction to teaching and non-teaching departments. Administrative support of strategic planning and completion report Strategic plan preparation Preparing timely updates to strategic Same as above plan drafts; maintaining focus on strategic objectives that are measurable and meaningful (measurable improvement). Administrative support of strategic planning and completion report Completion report preparation Preparing a mid-year report for Same as above timely review by cabinet; collating all information from divisions and preparing completion report for review by cabinet; assisting with preparation of the president’s cover letter. The plan for achieving the three targets at left is a single coordinated effort to make the year-end reporting and strategic planning process, culminating in the completion report, a more manageable and meaningful campus-wide one. Using the guidance provided by the central office, make the strong and sustained case throughout the process for measurable outcomes that demonstrate improvement not just activity. For the year-end reports in OAA, a preparatory meeting like the one in 2011 will be held but earlier and with more substantive guidance. For the strategic planning process, beginning with the framework that is developed at the mini-CAPC level, craft a much more condensed strategic plan, with an eye toward measurable improvement from the outset. For the completion report, need to explore a better, more efficient way to collect information from the divisions and to maintain very focused attention to reporting measurable improvement. Assessment Plan Core Activity KPI Target Outcome Plan Administrative support of assessment processes Maintenance of Assessment Web site Update the Web site for better functionality and for accuracy; some pages of the Assessment Handbook need revision This is planned as a summer 2011 project. Administrative support of assessment processes Maintenance of assessment scheduling Provide workshops for department faculty who will conduct program reviews to discuss course assessment in advance This plan is a strategic objective and would be new to the campus; course assessment that currently takes place often does so without regard to the academic programs that courses support; workshops would serve to provide curricular context for courses and help to illuminate student learning issues otherwise undisclosed. Administrative support of assessment processes Coordinating program review Provide administrative support to TAC OAA and the Assessment process of ABET and NLNAC reaccreditations. Office provide administrative support to all program reviews, helping to make arrangements and editing documents as needed. Senate Committee on Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness Timely reporting to Senate Committee Providing access to all assessment reporting as required by the committee; attending all meetings; providing guidance and context, as needed. Compliance Ensuring compliance with Middle States, TAC of ABET, NLNAC, and ACBSP guidelines and requirements Relaying important information, Will work with department ensuring that necessary fees are paid chairs and department and important deadlines are met. faculty throughout process. Curriculum committee Providing administrative Will bring to completion three new support and guidance to programs: course and program revision and development Forensic Accounting, Pharmaceutical Science, Career and Technical Teacher Education Final preparations will be made to bring the three program proposals to CAPPR. Curriculum committee Providing administrative New Environmental Science/Health support and guidance to program course and program revision and development Will work with Biological Sciences and Geology on new Environmental Science/Health program Curriculum committee Providing administrative Revised Engineering Science support and guidance to program. course and program revision and development Will work with departments on revised Engineering Science program. The plan, fundamentally, is to help to shape the way in which the charge of the committee is carried out—specifically, what really meaningful work can the committee do besides checking off reports. What exactly does “review” imply? What would be appropriate or even possible? Assessment Plan Core Activity KPI Target Outcome Plan Articulation Coordinating negotiations with other institutions and providing administrative support; maintaining and updating Web page New articulations with Syracuse, New York College of Health Professions, York College, SUNY Downstate, Empire State College, and Kaplan Will reorganize and modify Articulation Web site; a strategic objective of the college is to reorganize staff in an effort to manage, maintain, and develop new articulation agreements; the details of carrying this out will be discussed and formulated in fall 2011.
