ASSIGNMENT 12 for SECTION 001
This assignment is to be handed in. There are two parts: Part A and Part B.
Part A will be graded for completeness. You will receive full marks only if every question has been completed.
Part B will be graded for correctness, clarity and comprehensiveness. In both parts, you must show your
work.
Please submit Part A and Part B separately, with your name on each part.
Part A
From Calculus: Early Transcendentals:
From section 3.8, complete questions: 6(a) and 6(b), 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20
From section 3.9, complete questions: 2, 4
From section 9.1, complete questions: 9
Part B
Derive and justify a model for the spread of a virus in a human population, and graph the model. Describe
when the rate of propagation is highest. Your answer should be in the form of a short essay. Explain your
terms, make clear any assumptions you are making, and provide full documentation of your sources.
In addition to the clarity of your exposition, you will be evaluated on the accuracy of your model. (However,
note that your model needs to be simple enough to be analyzed reasonably.)
