Behind the Scenes in the QCC Theatre - 12 Angry Jurors Holy Child Jesus School Course Arthur Adair, Actors Workshop I & II, Department of Speech Communication and Theatre Arts Overview Visiting 8th grade students will have a discussion with Prof. Adair about different aspects of theatre, they will then attend a performance of a play and finally they will participate in a postperformance discussion with the actors and production team. Course Objectives QCC Students will • demonstrate a progressive understanding of the various elements and basic interrelated processes of creation, interpretation, performance, and production. • appropriately utilize the vocabulary of the theatre. • integrate personal observation and objective criticism in the evolution of their performance. • form and defend fundamental value judgments about theatre and media. Interest of Partner Visiting students will be exposed to the formalized process of script analysis and will become aware of different experiences offered by studying text and viewing performance. Activities/Product Prior to the performance, the visiting students independently analyze and interpret the script and form interpretations of the story, the characters, and thought of the text. During the postperformance discussion, QCC students will reaffirm their mastery of course content as they share ideas and reactions and tour backstage at QPAC with the visiting students.
