A. Enrollment and Student Profile ‐‐ Summary
The Digital Art and Design A.A.S. program has grown in the last six years from 197 students in fall 2007 to 265 students in fall 2012. Full‐time enrollment status was highest in the academic year 2010‐11 with 70 percent of students enrolled full‐time. That percent saw a relative sharp decline to 62.7 percent in fall 2011. In fall 2012 that percent was 67 percent. The student FTE count has been relatively stable around 200 FTE since fall 2010. The program enrolls more male students. While the campus‐wide percent of male students in associate degree programs was 47 percent in fall 2012, the DA‐A.A.S. program had 60.8 percent male enrolled. This percentage is generally higher among part‐time students (65.5 percent in fall 2012). The majority of the students in the program are between the age of under 19 and 22 (78.5%). The program enrolled more international students than other programs on campus in the last six years ‐‐ while the campus wide percent of international students was between 7 ‐ 10 percent, DA‐A.A.S. had 11 ‐ 17 percent of international students enrolled in the past 6 years (Nonresident Alien) and around 40 percent reported to speak a language other than English at home. Close to 70 percent of students have not yet earned 30 credits towards graduation in a given fall term (Freshman class status, page 11). The average of the College Admission Average (High School GPA) of incoming freshmen was with around 75 (on a scale from 50 to 100) relatively stable over the last six years and very similar to the college wide average. Most freshmen came in without SAT scores. The Reading, Writing, and Math Placement skills test results were also very similar to those of QCC students in general. In fall 2012 over 70 percent of incoming freshmen needed remedial math, about 30 percent needed remedial Writing, and 21 percent needed remedial Reading. Page 4 of 42

B. Institutional Effectiveness ‐‐ Summary
Roughly one third of DA‐A.A.S. students are enrolled in at least one remedial course in any given term. The success of the students in these courses varied by term and course level. However, fewer DA‐A.A.S. students received grades of F or WU in non‐remedial courses compared to the college average (around 13 percent of DA‐A.A.S. students compared to 16 to 19 percent college wide ‐‐ Fact Book 2012‐13 page 35). The one‐year retention of first time full time freshmen in the program was very high for the fall 2009 cohort (85.7%) and had fallen to 66.7% for the fall 2011 cohort. However, more first time full time freshmen graduate within 3 years (22.2% of the fall 2009 cohort) and within 6 years (35.1% of the 2006 cohort) from this program than college wide (see pages 27 and 28). The program awarded 227 degrees by August 2012, with the highest number awarded in the academic year 2010‐11 ‐‐ 43 diploma (page 29 and page 45 in the Fact Book). Over half of the graduates transferred to a four year college, many to Queens College. Page 18 of 42
