Subject: WI07 eSEI Student Comments: KEEP THIS EMAIL
Hello,
Thank you for using the online option to collect your Student Evaluation of
Instruction data this past quarter. The SEI reports for the Winter 2007 courses
that were evaluated electronically will arrive in campus mail soon. The openended comments for your course(s) appear below. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT
THAT YOU KEEP THESE COMMENTS, AS DUPLICATE COPIES ARE NOT
AVAILABLE FROM THE REGISTRAR'S OFFICE.
Whether administered on paper or through the internet, the current 10-item SEI
form has been used since 1994, and the Registrar’s Office permanently stores all
the NUMERIC data. Duplicate copies of current or past reports can be obtained
by emailing seiadmin@osu.edu or phoning 292-2241.
STUDENT COMMENTS WILL NOT BE STORED BY THE REGISTRAR'S
OFFICE. Each comment may be up to 4000 characters in length, presenting a
potentially expensive and cumbersome storage challenge. Numeric data will be
stored permanently, but your students' comments (pasted below) will be purged
from our database very soon. Whether you wish to use the comments to
evaluate your teaching methods, to support a promotion or tenure application, or
to bolster a job application, be aware that comments are not part of the official
SEI instrument and will not be centrally maintained. THIS EMAIL MAY BE
YOUR ONLY OPPORTUNITY TO SEE THE COMMENTS YOUR STUDENTS
WROTE, SO IT'S UP TO YOU TO STORE THEM AS YOU SEE FIT.
General questions about SEI history, administration, and interpretation of
numeric results can be found in the SEI Handbook, published on the web at
http://www.ureg.ohio-state.edu/ourweb/Tests/TestsContent/SEI_handbook.pdf.
The layout and security features of electronic SEIs are shown at
http://www.ureg.ohio-state.edu/ourweb/tests/testscontent/esei.pdf. Frequentlyasked questions are answered at http://www.ureg.ohiostate.edu/ourweb/Tests/TestsContent/eSEI_FAQ.htm. Thanks again for using
web-based SEIs. We welcome your feedback at seiadmin@osu.edu.

time on problem in class and not enough time explaining the material. The book
he chose was difficult to understand and needed clarification which he did not
offer. I found the course to be very difficult as I was required to for thhe most part
teach myself the material."

responding to questions from students and is very encouraging"

outside work helped better understanding"
"young.53@osu.edu","WI07","00059","ACCT&MIS H212 ","wonders why
nobody speaks up in class after tearing into anyone who does."
"young.53@osu.edu","WI07","00060","ACCT&MIS H212 ","He's a good
professor but he also makes the material way to abstract to the point making us
wonder why we do any of this. He also believes that Accounting for some reason
is the end all be all of life and doesn't realize that other classes put demands on
us and our time and we can't be robots of accounting day in and day out. He's
cynical but really does know what he is talking about whether you do or not."

always very prepared and excited to teach!"
