National Reporting System (NRS)

advertisement
The National Reporting System (NRS) has developed online courses that adult education programs can
take to learn and gain clarification on NRS requirements and strategies on how to improve NRS data
quality and use. These training courses are designed to explain NRS and to assist trainees in improving
the quality of the NRS data in their local programs. Trainees must take enough Online Courses to acquire
a maximum of six (6) hours of CORE credit. This CORE can be repeated every three years by selecting
from the list of available online courses. For additional information regarding this online professional
development opportunity, contact Louise Miller @ louise@wvabe.org
FORMAT: Training is delivered via a series of online readings, assignments, and/or quizzes over the
Web. Trainees work independently at their own pace based on instructions included in each course’s
Web training materials.
TIME REQUIRED: There are several different NRS online training opportunities available that include
numerous courses that cover NRS basics, improving NRS data quality, and effectively using NRS data.
An approved list of NRS online courses for NRS4U CORE credit is listed below.
GETTING STARTED: Because there are a variety of courses, NRS recommends that you complete the
NRS Self-Evaluation Form, a short series of questions that takes no longer than five (5) minutes to
complete. This form helps evaluate your knowledge of NRS and offers a recommended course of study,
review, or training via the NRS online training system. It is not required that you complete the NRS SelfEvaluation Form, if you know there are areas in which you, or your program, needs assistance, review the
list of approved NRS Online Courses and complete those that are appropriate. You may even want to
discuss which courses you should select with your local county administrator, Regional Coordinator, or
feel free to give Louise Miller a call for a recommendation. However, FIRST, it is necessary to set up an
online training account so that you can maintain your responses on your form, update your recommended
courses and view your training progress.
