Academic support services including tutoring and the math and writing centers (currently located at various sites across campus) will be integrated with the library into this facility. The building will include flexible interactive spaces to accommodate the diverse ways that students learn. The building will also alleviate the on-campus shortage of classroom and program space for the projected growth in FTE by supporting Whatcom’s strategic commitment to eLearning. Additionally, space vacated by programs that move into the new building will be re-purposed into classrooms and labs (not included in this project) serving additional on campus FTE. Square feet: 65,195 GSF Scope changes: The project was originally requested as a 70,000 GSF building. The program has been adjusted to meet the budget by reducing the square footage.
