Project Description:
Two-story, 11,088 gross square foot building. The site is sloped, allowing at-grade access to
each level. The first level will house the Facilities and Maintenance department, which is
currently located largely in Building K. The Facilities and Maintenance department will contain
maintenance shops, storage, and administrative offices. The second level will house classroom
space for the Early Childhood Development program; this program is currently located in
portable structures at the south end of the campus, adjacent to Building A.
Square feet: 11,088 square feet.
Scope Changes:
The major scope change for this project was the building site relocation. Renton Technical
College, after working the campus master plan architect, elected to locate the building at the
north end of campus, to the west of the Childcare Building. The revised site was similar,
topographically, to the original site but required shoring.
Additionally, the site stairs at the south end of the site were deleted from the scope of the project.
There are existing site stairs further south of the project site, and the City of Renton Fire
Department agreed that the proposed stairs were not required.

Potential for Project Cost Overruns/Claims
Currently, there is no potential for cost overruns, as the project is nearing substantial completion,
pending jurisdictional approval and Certificate of Occupancy.
Discussion of Project Quality
The Maintenance and Classroom building will meet/ exceed the facilities design and construction
standards for Renton Technical College.
