Project Description: This project will provide Edmonds Community College with a new
Instructional Lab Building (Mukilteo Hall) that includes a black box theatre on our Lynnwood
campus. This project will also provide a sprinkler system in the adjacent building as required by
City fire code. In addition, a planned remodel of Lynnwood Hall 2nd floor has been combined
with the sprinkler system installation part of this project. This was done to take advantage of the
existing construction down time in the facility, and minimize disruption to campus students and
staff.
Mukilteo Hall will provide the College with much-needed additional basic skills labs, specialized
computer labs, multi-use classrooms and faculty office space. We are in a continual state of
growth, both in the number of students as well as in the number of programs and classes we are
offering and this building will help to satisfy our ability to provide quality education that the
community has come to expect from Edmonds Community College.
Mukilteo Hall will help us to consolidate and improve programs and services to better serve the
students and to add faculty office space that is required by contract. Mukilteo Hall will house our
Theater Arts program, Developmental Education, International Education and Math lab
programs, as well as their faculty and support staff.
The black box theatre part of this project will give our campus a facility in which we can train
students in theatre and technical production. In addition, the theatre provides us with a flexible
performance space for a variety of theatrical and musical productions, as well as a gathering
place for special events such as Speaker Series, Film Series, etc. The theatre will be constructed

through COP funding along with the construction funds for the original Instructional Lab
Building.
The project involves working with representatives from each of these areas to help facilities and
the architects design the most efficient and effective building for their programs.

We have substantial completion at this time and contractor is finishing up punch list. We have
occupied the facility.
