Juergen Wechsler
Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Schaeffler AG:
After completing secondary school, Juergen Wechsler began training at Siemens as a mechanic in 1971 and
stayed on as a skilled worker with Siemens Trafo Union until 1989. Between 1975 and 1976, he did his basic
military service with the navy.
Since 1989, Juergen Wechsler has been employed at IG Metall, initially working there as a political secretary
with IG Metall Nuremberg.
After the German Reunification in 1990, Juergen Wechsler helped to develop the IG Metall office in
Doebeln/Grimma.
Juergen Wechsler was elected as the 2nd authorized representative of the Nuremberg office of IG Metall in
1992 and as the 1st authorized representative and treasurer in 2008.
Since 2010, he has been the district manager for IG Metall Bavaria.
In addition to his role as Vice Chairman of the Schaeffler AG Supervisory Board, Juergen Wechsler has been
a member of the BMW AG Supervisory Board since October 2010 and the Vice Chairman of the Supervisory
Board of Siemens Healthcare GmbH since June 2015. On the Schaeffler AG Supervisory Board, he is part of
the Executive Committee and the Mediation Committee.
