OROPON® OO – Bating agent
Features
OROPON® OO is based on pancreatic enzymes.
OROPON® OO is active between pH 7 and 9.
Handling & storage:
Wear gloves and face mask during handling. CLOSE SACK TIGHTLY
AFTER USE AND STORE IN A DRY PLACE.
Can be stored for about 2 years (from date of production) if kept in a dry
place and protected from heat above 30°C.
Benefits
OROPON® OO is suitable for any type of leather, especially for soft
leathers. OROPON® OO ensures good scud-loosening. OROPON® OO
gives a more elastic-grain without the tendency of loose grain.
OROPON® OO slackens hide structure gently without causing an
excessive decomposition of the flanks.
Application
OROPON® OO is added, undissolved, 20 – 60 minutes after the deliming
agents.
The deliming agent should be dosed in such a way that the pH value of
the bating liquor remains within the desired range (pH 7 – 9), whilst
providing the desired degree of deliming.
The pH value should not be allowed to drop below 5, since otherwise scud
fixation may occur and the outer layers of the pelt, particularly the grain,
may be damaged due to acid swell.
For improved scud release, compatible surfactants, e. g. BORRON®, may
be added to the bate. The bating effect is more pronounced at higher, e.g.
37°C, rather than at low temperatures. For a uniform bating effect with
gentle treatment of the grain, extend the bating period at lower
temperatures; say 30 – 32°C.
