Edition 2010 OROPON® MS gran. – Bating agent for soft leathers to optimise cutting yield Features ® OROPON MS gran. is an ammonium free bating agent based on pancreatic enzymes specially formulated as a granulate (low dust formulation). ® OROPON MS gran. is best applied between pH 7 and 9. Handling & storage: Wear gloves and face mask during handling. CLOSE SACK TIGHTLY AFTER USE AND STORE IN A DRY PLACE. Can be stored for about 2 years (from date of production) if kept in a dry place and protected from heat above 30°C. Benefits ® OROPON MS gran. is especially designed to allow an effective bating process, even on hides and skins which have a poor and sensitive collagen structure, thus providing optimum cutting yield. ® OROPON MS gran. slackens the hide structure gently, allowing a deep bating action without loosening the flanks, thereby facilitating the preparation of nappa leather-types, with a very good inner softness. ® OROPON MS gran. ensures good scud loosening and grain cleaning. ® OROPON MS gran. gives a fine, tight and elastic grain. Application OROPON MS gran. is added after the deliming agents. Deliming agents should be dosed in such a way that the pH value of the bating liquor remains within the optimum pH activity range (pH 7 – 9), whilst providing the desired degree of deliming. The pH value should not be allowed to drop below 5, since otherwise scud fixation may occur and the outer layers of the pelt, particularly the grain, may be damaged due to acid swelling. ® For optimum scud release, compatible surfactants, e.g. BORRON , may be added to the bate. ® The bating effect is more pronounced at higher temperatures, e.g. 37°C, than at lower temperatures. For a uniform bating effect, extend the bating time at lower temperatures.
