APEX Fun Run
Bonnie shared MCA-III & MAP Testing
Data from Spring 2014. There was concern
about the math proficiency, but this needs to
be viewed cumulatively for a better picture.
Turbo TJ handed out Pre-program checklist,
Coach Playbook & Principal Newsletter to
Parents for Council’s reviewal.
APEX dates: May 12 – Teacher Huddle (before
or after school-to create a schedule together)
May 13 – Pep Rally – in gym in afternoon
May 14-21 - Team Days (Three-person APEX
team goes class to class for 5-10 min.)
May 21 – “Practice” Fun Run during HL Picnicone every hour. (parents join their kids, 3-legged
race, mascots run?) Ideas: set up stations-get kids
ready for the race. Get our DJ involved with
APEX activities along with his music. Have a
table set up with laptop for donations.
May 22 – Fun Run/Collections
All donations are 100% tax deductible.
Use “Scottie Dog” pseudo name for corporate
sponsorship.

February Principal’s
Newsletter will let
parents know that
there will be APEX
activities & Practice
Fun Run rather than a
Silent Auction during
the HL Picnic this
year.
Early April, TJ will
meet with Stacy &
DeeDee.
TJ will send us
videos to show
students (morning
newscast), one & two
weeks out from the
Fun Run.
Idea: Spirit Day - Every student wears their HL
apparel for the ABC Assembly held before
APEX Run. Scholarships available so that every
HL student has at least a t-shirt for the Assembly.

Chad presented the District’s Facilities &
Equipment Update – covering space, safety
& technology.
See Handout
Why? Overcrowding at elementary schools,
ongoing safety & security concerns &
technology funds are expiring as new
technology vision begins.
Timeline:
January-review input from district staff meetings.
February-final recommendations developed.
March/April-conduct community survey.
May/June-consider resolution calling for
referendum election
August-October – Conduct information
campaign.
November 3, 2015 – Possible bond referendum
election.
Parent Survey Results
Sara George presented a wonderfully
detailed synopsis of the Parent Survey
results. She found that security issues seem
to be the biggest concern for parents.
Communication at the start of the new school
year – inform parents how we communicate
& how technology works (parents can
subscribe to HL’s calendar to download on
their iphone.)
Principal newsletters – trim down to three
times a year along with the first hard copy in
August? (parents receive this along with the
HL Calendar at Assessments.) Or do we
send weekly ICue messages with short
timely bullet points?
Parent Leader Meeting
Will be held Tues.,
Jan. 13th.

Boxtops/Labels Portable
Unit –
Sara-Lynn Nash
Sara-Lynn found a portable unit on wheels
from IKEA that could be used by parents to
drop off Boxtops, Milk labels, & Campbells
Labels. This would be a great organizer of
all labels & visibly remind parents of what &
how we clip. Latest Boxtops check received:
$2,315.74! Sara-Lynn would need about
$100 for both the portable unit & four
drawers.
Next Meeting – Monday,
March 9th, 2015 @ 3:30
Council voted to
purchase the
portable unit &
drawers.
