Justices have an opportunity to serve the college community; develop life-long skills in facilitating and resolving conflicts; enhance critical thinking and communication skills; and promote civility and citizenship within the Marist College Community. W Expectations X Justices will experience an intensive training program to develop skills necessary to be a successful team member. Expectations of Justices: Participate in judicial hearings regarding violations of the Code of Student Conduct Conduct oneself in a trustworthy, professional and confidential manner Recommend reasonable, fair and educational sanctions when appropriate Represent the interests and needs of the student body to the Office of Judicial Affairs W Requirements X Applicants must be matriculated full-time undergraduate students at Marist College. Both on-campus and off-campus students may apply. A grade point average of at least 2.5 is strongly preferred. Marist College is comprised of a diverse student body; therefore, students of all backgrounds and interests are encouraged to apply. Disciplinary or academic violations committed at Marist College or elsewhere must be disclosed. Prior infractions will not automatically disqualify applicants but are taken into consideration by the selection committee. W Selection Process X 1. Upon completion of the interview process, the Director of Judicial Affairs will notify candidates who have been selected for the student justice position for 2008 – 2009.
