DEFINITIONS
1. New bachelors, masters, doctorates, and graduate
certificates require approval of CBHE.
2. Options or Emphases are groupings of courses within a
bachelor’s or master’s degree program.
Options/Emphases appear on the students’ transcripts
but not on their diplomas.
Options/Emphases require CBHE approval. They may be
included in proposals for new degree programs, or they
can be added to existing degree programs by filing a
Program Change Form (Form PC).
3. Other groupings of courses (e.g. concentrations, focuses,
minors or tracks) require only the Provost’s approval.
Such groupings do not appear on students’ transcripts.
