January 29, 2010 Dear Parents, This week we have been learning how to be scientists! We have been working on our observation skills as we explore liquids, solids and gases. We are investigating the properties of solids and liquids such as viscous, transparent, and rigid! Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped make our Science Stations a big hit today. We appreciate your help! Next week, we will do an inquiry lesson to determine if toothpaste is a liquid or a solid…hmmmm, what do YOU think? We will be celebrating the 100th Day of school on Tuesday, February 1st. We will be counting, sorting, writing about, and adding with the number 100. Each child is asked to bring a contribution to our 100th Day Gorp. Small candies, dry cereal, small crackers, chocolate chips, miniature marshmallows are good choices. Be creative…try to think of something original. Please have your child bring his/her contribution to school no later than Monday, January 31st. They also need to bring in their 100 Words homework by that day. Thanks for your help. Our class will be exchanging Valentines at our Valentine’s Day party on Monday, February 14th. If your child chooses to participate, he/she may bring their Valentines to school beginning Monday, February 7th. Our party will be from 1:00 – 2:00. Thanks to all who donate their time, talents, and goodies to our class. We appreciate all you do for us! Please find the attached spelling words for the test on Thursday. Next week’s sight vocabulary words are the same as last week’s and have to do with our science unit: solid liquid change . Respectfully, space particles gas shape container weight matter
