™ You have just been employed as an Infectious Disease Investigator for Larimer County, Colorado.
(See attached letter.)
™ Six mysterious food intoxication cases have recently been reported to Poudre Valley Hospital. It is your
duty to solve these mysteries as quickly as possible.
™ Include in your lab write-up, each of the following items of information, displayed in a Titled Data

Procedure
1. Read all materials before beginning your work. Define all terms first, then solve all 6
of the case studies by doing research. (see Hints below)
2. A Formal Lab write-up is required for this activity.
3. Use the lab template posted on the web page.
4. BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE Lab write-up GUIDELINES (posted on the web
page) TO THE LETTER. Any part of the write-up that is OUT OF ORDER will
result in a 10 point reduction in your grade!!!
5. The order of the write up is:
A. Title
B. Introduction (omit hypothesis). (See lab write-up guidelines.)
C. Results
i. Research. (Define all terms. See above list.)
ii. Visuals (instead of Sketches/Diagrams) Include one photograph of each
of the bacteria you have identified as the cause of each of the cases. Label
each photo with the name of the bacteria, and its case number.
iii. Titled Data Table
iv. Bibliography
While doing research to solve the mysteries, prepare an accurate, detailed
bibliography of ALL sources (including sources of terms definitions,
visuals, and any sources that help you to solve the mysteries).

C. Conclusions See lab write-up guidelines. Omit hypothesis. Include all other
