CLASSIFIED ADVISORY DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL
September 12, 2013 – 2:00 p.m.

Call to Order
A. Roll Call – Sign attendance sheet
B. Motion to approve agenda (Tenorio/Pauly) approved by consent.
Motion to approve August 13, 2013 minutes (Tenorio/Frey) approved by consent.
Announcements
A. As Chair of CADC, Wahl has been asked to be a member of the Strategic Planning Group.
B. Wahl will give a CADC progress update to the ASLS Council on October 9.
C. The Academic Staff Senate has invited CADC members to attend their meetings.
D. The first Classified Employee Appreciation Award for this year was presented today.
E. Wisconsin Act 20 includes significant changes to rehiring of annuitants. A link to
information about the changes will be placed on the CADC webpage.
F. The Supplemental Compensation – Phase 2 Committee has not met since the
engagement sessions. Comments from the engagement sessions are available online
and members were encouraged to review. A report is due to the Chancellor by the end
of October.
G. Classified staff eligible for the 2012-2013 Supplemental Pay Program received a base
pay increase, instead of a lump sum payment, effective 6/30/13.
Reports
A. New Employee Orientation: Schram and Simonson reported that the orientation went
well but there was a small turnout. After discussion, the council decided to continue
distributing welcome gifts to new classified employees. A suggestion was also made to
schedule the orientation fair after the new employee orientation meeting with Human
Resources.
B. UPS Video Conference: Frey, Wahl, and Wik attended the video conference on August
26.
Unfinished Business
A. Computer Usage Help Guide: The guide has been sent to Tom Biasi with a request to
post by custodial computers. A copy will also be added to the CADC webpage.
B. Classified Surveys: The first survey is ready, will be distributed on September 23, and
open for two weeks.
C. Classified Professional Development Day – Kinza Presentations has been chosen and
Wahl is waiting to hear back from Deb Gehrke about the budget. A date and location
will be confirmed soon.
D. Campus Key Control: no new information. Motion to table this item until further
information is available (Simonson/Frey) approved unanimously.
New Business
A. UW-System Classified Staff Governance: There is a new UW-System Classified Staff
Governance Executive Summary. CADC membership elections will most likely be
required in some form in the future. The executive summary will be posted on the
CADC website.

B. 2012-13 Accomplishments and 2013-14 Goals and Objectives: Wahl distributed
beginning drafts of accomplishments and goals/objectives, and members were asked to
provide input. Further discussion will take place at the next meeting, and a more
finalized document will need to be completed before the presentation to the ASLS
Council in October.
