Agri News, MN 12-05-06 Iowa news and notes Mega Trends in farming topic of meeting STORM LAKE, Iowa -- Iowa State University Extension will present a program titled "Mega Trends in Agriculture'' Dec. 12 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Prairie Lakes AEA Building in Storm Lake. The program will look at how the environment is changing and what effect it will have on corn and soybean production and the changes that the ethanol industry will have on corn, soybeans and the livestock industry in Iowa. The high price of oil has made the production of fuel more economical than feed for corn. The program will discuss what are the unintended consequences of converting corn into ethanol. ISU Extension ag engineer Kris Kohl will discuss the changes in the environment and how they will impact northwest Iowa.
