Physical Education

Mary La Rue

Mary teaches courses in the Health, Wellness and Fitness program which includes Kinesiology,

Exercise Physiology and Personal Health and Fitness. She will also serve as an advisor to the

HWF major and the HWF Club. Mary has an undergraduate degree in Physical Education and

Health from UW-River Falls, a master’s degree from UW-Platteville in Education with a Health

Emphasis, and a PhD from University of Minnesota in Kinesiology with emphasis areas in Sport

Psychology and Biomechanics. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends boating on area lakes as well as hiking and biking the state parks in Wisconsin and

Minnesota.

Psychology

Mike Mensink

Mike is an Assistant Professor in the Psychology department. He teaches a wide variety of psychology courses for both the B.S. in Psychology and the M.S. in Applied Psychology. These courses include General Psychology, Research Methods and Statistics, Cognitive Psychology, Experimental

Psychology, Child Psychology, Learning and Memory, and others. Mike is a new dad to his daughter Lizzie, who is 15 months old, and he really enjoys spending quality time with his family. He is also a craft beer aficionado and home brew when he has the time. He enjoys playing softball, video gaming, reading science fiction and fantasy novels, and discussing current events over a pint. World travel is also very important to him; he is always on the lookout for new cultural experiences in far-flung lands. He is currently planning a trip to Belgium and Germany in the summer of 2016.

Rehabilitation and Counseling

Rodney Maiden

Rodney Maiden is the program director for the B.S. in Rehabilitation & Criminal Justice program. He is aan Assistant Professor and teaches classes such as Job Placement, Psychosocial Aspects of Disability, Law Enforcement Policies and Procedures, Rehabilitation of the Public Offender, Rehabilitation and Criminal Justice and Introduction to Counseling. He has a master’s degree in Rehabilitation

Counseling from the University of North Texas and has a Ph.D in Rehabilitation and Counselor Education from the University of Iowa. Rodney likes photography, eating, traveling, and any form of musical entertainment. He loves to laugh and make others laugh and he will drive to St. Paul just to purchase a Popeye’s meal.

Becky Albricht

Misty Berg

Becky Albricht is the Director of Services for SVRI. This is a new grant and contract-funded position responsible for managing and developing innovative services to enhance integrated employment outcomes for individuals with disabilities. Becky earned a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education at UW-Stout in 1994. She is interested in music, boating and all water sports. In her free time she likes to spend time with her family and three dogs which are a Great Dane, Springer-Basset mix, and Mini-pinscher.

Misty Berg graduated from Chippewa Valley Technical College with an associate’s degree in Administrative Assistant. After she graduated, she worked at an insurance company in Eau Claire for about ten years in Claims and Customer Service. She worked as an LTE for a short time at UW-Eau Claire and then accepted a position at Pepin County Department of Human Services, where she worked for about 14½ years. She is married and has three children ages 20, 17, and 12.

Will Etzbach

Will Etzbach attended Southern Illinois University where he received a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. His bachelor’s degree is in Psychology with a minor in Public Health from the Western Illinois University. He is working in the Eligibility and Order of Selection unit at SVRI as a Case Facilitator. He enjoys music, playing guitar and having fun with his family.

Skyler Gerland

Skyler Gerland graduated from UW-Stout this spring with a degree in Vocational Rehabilitation with a concentration in Independent Living. She is working with SVRI in the Eligibility and Order of Selection unit as a Case Facilitator.

Jodi Kendrick

Jodi Kendrick graduated from UW-Stout with a bachelor’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation. Her daughter was also a UW student at the same time. Jodi is a Case Facilitator for the Eligibility and

Order of Section Unit for DVR. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, camping, riding bike, snow shoeing and photography.

Cheryl Kivi Lemanski

Cheryl has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UW-Oshkosh. She is originally from Appleton,

Wisconsin but has lived in Lake Hallie for the past 14 years. Prior to moving to the area, she worked as a Vocational Case Manager at Valley Packing Industries in both Appleton and Madison.

She is a Case Facilitator in SVRI. In her personal time, she likes to read, garden, and is a Packer fan. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two daughters.

Jeff Lund

Jeff Lund is a Case Facilitator with SVRI on the Eligibility and Order of Selection Team. For the past 13 years he has worked as an Employment Counselor with Workforce Resource and worked in several of the area counties of West Central WI. He earned his MS in Vocational Rehabilitation degree from UW-Stout with concentrations in Rehabilitation Counseling and Vocational Evaluation. His bachelor’s degree is in Psychology and Sociology from UW-LaCrosse. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys.

Liza Malley

Liza Malley graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology-Human Performance. She is currently a Case Facilitator on the Eligibility and Order of Selection Team in SVRI.

She loves animals, especially dogs. In her free-time, Liza loves to cook and bake, travel, and being physically active. She was a gymnast for 14 years, coached gymnastics for seven years and pole vaulted for UW-Eau Claire.

Michael Manning

Michael Manning is a Case Facilitator on the Eligibility and Order of Selection Team in SVRI. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Psychology from Creighton University. He also earned a Juris Doctor and General Health Law Certificate from Hamline University. He enjoys law, international and domestic politics, Lord of the Rings, science fiction and fantasy books, watching movies, live music, camping, fishing, public speaking, helping people, working with kids and dogs. He did spotlight for the Main Stage at the Northern Wisconsin State Fair for ten years. This gave him the opportunity to do spotlight for bands like Credence Clearwater Revival, Peter Noone from the

Herman Hermits, Joan Jet and the Blackhearts, Steppenwolf and more.

Amber Schoenick graduated from UW-Stout with a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Communication Management, and she is working towards a master’s degree in Training and Develop-

Amber Schoenick ment. She is an Associate Rehabilitation Specialist working with the Eligibility and Order of

Selection Unit that is contracted with Wisconsin DVR to help their consumers through the initial process so they can obtain services. She has two young children and her husband is a veteran of the US Army. In her free time she operates a small business making crafts and selling them online via a website called Etsy. She also enjoys fishing and camping.

Ivy Schofield

Ivy Schofield is the Program Manager for the Eligibility and Order of Selection Team in SVRI. She is responsible for program management and staff supervision within the unit. She has a master’s degree in Criminal Justice/Victim and Offender Services and has enjoyed focusing on community rehabilitation. She likes to provide community re-entry services for those individuals recently released from jail or prison. In her free time, she enjoys writing, biking, running, kayaking, working in the yard, decorating, candle-making, photography, focusing on health and wellness, and spending time with her husband and son.

Donna Schuh is the Office Operations Associate with the Eligibility and Order of Selection

Unit. She previously worked at an adult family home where she led the home in its day-to-day operations and took on the roles as the trainer and human resources coordinator. She has also worked as a Case Assistant and Job Coach. Donna lives in Menomonie, WI, with her husband who is a Stout alumnus, and their three children ages 10, 7, and 3.

Troy Temple

Donna Schuh

Troy is the new Director of Operations for SVRI. He attended Illinois State University, where he graduated with a B.S. in Public Relations. He has a MBA from Strayer University.

Troy enjoys their kids activities, kayaking, camping, the beach, running and the gym, and playing the guitar. On his 21 st birthday, he was in Italy and saw Crosby, Stills and Nash in

Rome. After the concert, they attempted to sneak backstage but were caught. A friend and him attempted once more and were able to meet all three of the performers.

Teaching, Learning and Leadership

Renae Jensen Ekstrand

Renae teaches core courses in the Early Childhood Education program as well as doing supervision of pre-student teachers and K-3 student teachers in the field. Her research interests include teacher-child relationships and learning environments that promote children’s sense of belonging. She also studies classroom, teacher, and school characteristics affecting achievement and outcomes and exploring the relationship between teacher morale, empowerment, and student achievement. She earned an associate’s degree in Sign Language Interpreting at Northcentral Technical College, a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at

Bemidji State University, a master’s degree in Education Leadership at Winona State University and has a doctorate in Leadership in Higher Education and K-12 Education. Renae enjoys nurturing her creative self by collecting fabric and sewing or quilting with it, spinning and weaving, planting and watching flowers grow, and trying new recipes.
