Native Seed Collection & Propagation
FY 2007 Accomplishments
BACKGROUND: A streamside campground and
adjacent wetland near the popular Slab Camp
Trailhead in the Dungeness Watershed have been
heavily damaged by illegal OHV use. As part of the
Dungeness Watershed Collaborative Stewardship
project, the road leading past this area will be
decommissioned, and vehicular access to the area
will be blocked.
PROPOSAL: Propagate seed and cuttings collected
from local native plants to use in revegetation and
restoration of the campground and wetland.
FUNDED OUTPUTS: A minimum of 800 seedlings
and rooted cuttings will be grown from local native
plant materials collections. The contract includes
collection (2007), propagation (2007-2008), and
delivery to the restoration site (late 2008). Species
include woody shrubs, forbs, and wetland emergents.
