CHAPTER 2150 - PESTICIDE-USE MANAGEMENT AND COORDINATION
2150.4 - Responsibility.
2150.45 - Forest Supervisors and District Rangers. Each Forest Supervisor shall designate a
person on his staff to serve as Pesticide-Use Coordinator for that Forest. This individual shall
coordinate all pesticide-use activities on that Forest. The person shall prepare necessary pesticide
reports, disseminate appropriate pesticide information within the Forest, ensure that the Forest
has an adequate number of certified pesticide applicators, stay abreast of pesticide relate
information, and maintain familiarity with FSM direction on pesticide-use and applicable State
and Federal laws. This person shall be the primary contact for the Regional Pesticide Specialist
concerning pesticide related matters for that Forest. Supervisors shall notify the Chairman of the
integrated pest Management Work Group whenever a new person is designated Pesticide-Use
Coordinator.

CHAPTER 2150 - PESTICIDE-USE MANAGEMENT AND COORDINATION
2151 - REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF PESTICIDE-USE.
2151.04 - Responsibility.
2151.04a - Regional Foresters, Station Directors, and Area Director. Regional Forester authority
for reviewing and approving proposed pesticide uses may be redelegated to other line officers
(such as Forest Supervisors) except for any pesticide use in designated wildernesses (FSM 2323),
wilderness study areas or designated as candidate research natural areas (FSM 4063). The
Regional Forester will also retain responsibility for reviewing and approving all projects
proposing aerial and ground applications of pesticides to 640 or more contiguous acres and
applications to water except for fish control projects proposing the use of antimycin and
rotenone. The approval for use of sodium cyanide for predator control is redelegated to the
Forest Supervisor.
All other proposed uses of pesticides are delegated to Forest Supervisors.
The Integrated pest Management work Group (IPMWG) will review and recommend for action
pesticide-use proposals that require Regional Forester approval (FSM 8/82 R-2 supp. 16).
