CHAPTER 50 – PESTICIDE-USE MANAGEMENT AND COORDINATION
2150 - PESTICIDE-USE MANAGEMENT AND COORDINATION
2150.45 - Forest Supervisors and District Rangers
The Forest Supervisor shall appoint an individual to serve as local Pesticide/Herbicide Use
Coordinator.
These coordinators are not necessarily Pesticide/Herbicide Specialists. Specialist activities are to
be handled within resource functions.
In addition to insuring the implementation of those responsibilities in FSM 2150 the District will
be responsible for the timely submission of all reports and proposals required in FSM 2150 and
insuring that pesticides/herbicides are thoroughly considered as project alternatives where
applicable.
2151 – REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF PESTICIDE USE
Delegation is made to District Rangers to approve use of housekeeping-type pesticides as
defined in FSM 2150.5--2 AND 2151. Approval may be verbal; does not require the completion
of a Pesticide-Use Proposal, Form 2100-2; and use is not reportable on the annual Pesticide-Use
Report, Form FS 2100-1.
2158.1 – Forms and Reports
Annually each Ranger District must complete and submit the Pesticide-Use Report (FS-2100-1)
to the Supervisor's Office by September 15th, reporting all pesticides used during the preceding
fiscal year. The report shall include all pesticide uses by the Forest Service or other Federal
Agencies on National Forest System lands, grantees, licensees, and permittees; and by
cooperating State and private landowners if Forest Service funds are not involved. It shall
include all pesticides applied in projects and programs but shall not include housekeeping uses.
(FSM 2150.5). Negative use reports are required. See FSH 2109.11 for instructions for
completing the report.
District reports shall be summarized in the Supervisor's Office and a Forest Pesticide Use Report
shall be submitted to the Regional Office no later than October 1st of each year.
