Andrew E. Rudloff Subashi & Wildermuth, Partner arudloff@swohiolaw.com Drew Rudloff’s practice is, in a word, unique. As a partner in the firm, he focuses on defending serious personal injury claims, insurance matters, and other complex litigation. He has significant first- and secondchair trial and hearing experience, and extensive experience authoring briefs and arguing in state and federal courts. But, a large part of Drew’s practice is devoted to schools. He trains and counsels school districts on special education issues under the IDEIA and related anti-discrimination laws, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Title II of the ADA, and he represents boards of education and educational service centers in related administrative and judicial proceedings. A unique practice means unique cases. Drew has successfully defended a Dayton-area board of education from seven-figure exposure stemming from time-delay claims in the construction of a school, obtained a not guilty verdict for a cattle rancher criminally prosecuted after his herd damaged neighboring properties, and helped navigate the nuances of behavioral programming and outside placements for disabled students under the IDEIA. Other representations range from successfully resolving an urban board of education’s alleged exposure under CERCLA for environmental site clean-up costs estimated at upwards of $75 million, to defending one of the largest educational service centers in Ohio in a federal suit alleging disability discrimination, unlawful restraint and seclusion, and civil rights violations. Drew’s efforts in these matters and others have led Super Lawyer’s Magazine to recognize him as an Ohio “Rising Star” for four years running. In addition to his practice, Drew is active in the Ohio legal community. He was appointed by the justices of the Ohio Supreme Court to two terms on the Court’s state-wide Commission on the Certification of Attorneys as Specialists, an entity responsible for approving and regulating agencies that certify lawyers as specialists in Ohio. He is the current chair of the Commission, which is comprised of approximately 18 attorneys, judges, and law professors. Also, he is an active member of other local and statewide legal organizations, including the Carl D. Kessler Inn of Court, the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys, and the Ohio Council of School Board Attorneys. Drew is a former law clerk to Judges Robert Cupp and Vern Preston at the Ohio Third District Court of Appeals. A graduate of the Ohio Northern University, Pettit College of Law, in Ada, Ohio, Drew was named by his peers as the law review editorial board member of the year in 2005, graduated third in his law school class, and was inducted into the Frank B. Willis Society (top 10%) and Phi Kappa Phi (top 5%). Drew is also a 2002 graduate of Westminster College, in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. Drew resides in Kettering with his wife, a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and surgical resident in the greater Dayton area.
