Partnerships: A Novel Way to Accelerate Life Science Workflows

Since its inception in 1875, Shimadzu has continually striven to contribute to people's health and wellbeing by challenging itself to develop state-of-the-art technology that creates solutions to the day's most
challenging scientific problems in a variety of fields. This desire is enshrined in Shimadzu's corporate
philosophy: "Contributing to Society through Science and Technology," and Shimadzu's global
organization remains unwaveringly committed to the realization of its core management principle: "For the
Well-being of both Mankind and the Earth." Shimadzu presently offers a multitude of products,
encompassing analytical and measuring instruments, medical systems and equipment, aircraft
equipment, and industrial equipment, across a wide range of fields, as well as meticulous, responsive
service. In addition to these core businesses, Shimadzu continually explores new ventures that will
positively impact society in the future. Acknowledging the realities of an aging society and its heightened
interest in the well-being of individuals, and in response to the goals of ultra-early diagnosis and treatment
in the field of next-generation medicine, we are focusing on the development of new technologies to
enable detection of subtle symptoms before the onset of full-blown diseases. This presentation will
demonstrate the ways in which Shimadzu has partnered with existing companies to deliver powerful new
tools for biomarker discovery, collaborated with visionary researchers in the application of existing
instrumentation to create fully automated protein analysis instrumentation, and developed new
instrumentation specifically designed to accelerate the drug development process. By showing examples
of recent and near-release products, this presentation aims to stimulate conversation about the most
pressing scientific and analytical needs for the future and how Shimadzu might assist in the creation of
solutions for those challenges.
