Teaching: Herb is a superb teacher. I donrt think that anyone in the
Nlflidl3cieirces Division surpasses hirD in this regard. Students gave him
alnost all A's olr the Math evaluation form. Written commentsby studelts
were all complimentary.
Herb tells me that he has never served as a teacher consultant l think
we have missed an opportunity here. He has much to offer young faculty
members who wish to improve their teaching perfomance. I rate his
teaching this past year as excellent to exceptional
Advising: Herb had a normal load of advisees, most of whom were maiors,
ana-wii a conscientious, effective advisor' He has been responsible for
establishjng a formal advising program for majors that should be examined
