HOPE COLLEGE EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY TEAM Meeting Minutes February 20, 2014 Opening: This meeting of the Technology Team was called to order at 7:00pm on February 20, 2014 in Van Zoeren 247 by co­directors Ashley Blauwkamp and Kate Bauer. Members Present: Aaron Goodyke, Ashley Blauwkamp, Ashley Vlasak, Hannah Bauersfeld, Holly Brinker, Jake Verschueren, Jencen Smith, Kate Bauer, Rachel Lundstrom, Sam Pederson, Sarah Krzak, Sarah Sheridan, Susan Cherup, and Zoe Edwards Member Absent: Abby Devries Christian, Brady Van Malsen A. Approval of Agenda A formal agenda had been prepared for this meeting by Ashley and Kate. B. Approval of Minutes The meeting minutes from February 6, 2014 have been uploaded to the Tech Team website. C. Meeting Business ● Happy Birthday Everyone! ○ We celebrated all of our birthdays and enjoyed cookie cake :) ● Recap: Tech Walk Through ○ Thank you to all who presented! Members found the presentations to be enjoyable, informative, and well­timed. ○ There are notes from the walk through available in the “Tech Walk Through” Google Doc folder for those who were not in attendance or would like a refresher of the presentations. ○ Suggestions for the future: ■ Continue to invite non­team members who have a technology to share ■ Potentially hold the walkthrough for two semesters. First semester could be for Tech Team members only, and second semester could be opened up to the entire Ed. Department. Professor could put a word in about it to the class. Students could look at the schedule and attend only during the presentations they are interested in seeing. ● Committee and Partnership Updates ○ Continue to update the Google Doc with anything going on in your committee or partnership. ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ○ At the time being, there is not much activity within the committees and partnerships. If you have an idea for a project, let the co­directors and Susan know. ○ Vimeo Project: Sarah S. has created an account and practised uploading a video. She found that it is simple to set up and is user­friendly. You can share the URL via email, social networks, etc. or post the link into a portfolio. Refresher: Team Recruitment ○ As always, if you know anyone who would be a positive addition to our team , let Susan know. Update: Co­Director Applications ○ The application period has ended. Thank you to those who have applied. ○ The new co­directors will be announced in March. Update: Tech Team T­Shirts ○ Sarah K. and Zoe have finished the design and it has been approved by the team. ○ To reduce costs, the back of the shirt will no longer have members’ last names, but it will have the Hope College logo. ○ Prices from different companies will be compared. An email will be sent to the team with a final pricing estimate and, hopefully, a final image of the shirt. Looking Ahead: Next Week’s Student Teaching Portfolio Review Session ○ Wednesday, February 26th from 5­6:30pm ○ Reviewers: Please arrive at 4:00pm for dinner and training in VZN 247 ○ If you are not a reviewer, you can still come to observe the reviewing process. OAISD ED Camp is on March 1st ○ Members who will be attending will receive information on carpooling soon. MACUL ○ March 13th and 14th ○ Ashley and Kate will be presenting on the 13th: “All About Me Goes Digital” ○ If you are interested in going, let Susan and the co­directors know ASAP Twitter ○ Sarah K. will be creating a Tech Team Twitter account. This will help keep Hope’s students, faculty, staff, and the greater community connected with updates and tidbits from the team. ○ When the account is created, members will notified of the account name. Please follow us is you have a Twitter! Final Meeting of the Year ○ A Doodle Poll will be sent out to determine the date. The original date, April 17th, may be changed as it is the night before Good Friday.
