Ecole King George Public School Inspiring Excellence in Life-long Learning 72 Lemon Street, Guelph, Ontario, N1E 2H5 Telephone ● 822-1911 Fax ● 837-0034 Randy Dewey, Principal April 10, 2015 Dear Parents and Guardians: The New East Guelph (Couling Crescent) School Boundary Review moves into its next phase this month, with the release of Report #2. The report will be presented to the Business Operations Committee for information on April 14. A copy is available at www.ugdsb.on.ca/egbr. Board Staff have put forward just one scenario, proposing that the attendance area for the new school would be bounded by (clockwise) Victoria Road, Eramosa Road, Guelph Lake, Jones Baseline and Stone Road. A map showing the proposed boundary appears on the reverse side of this letter. The “Interim Holding Boundary” shown on the map is a portion of the final attendance area. As decided by trustees last February, the former Tytler PS will become a “holding school” until the new school on Couling Crescent is completed (no later than September 2017). JK-3 FI students residing in this area will attend Tytler PS for the 2015-2016 school year, growing to JK-4 FI in 2016-2017. The intended organization of the Couling Crescent school is as a JK-8 FI Centre, but it will take some time for that grade structure to be fully realized. If the new school opens in September 2017, it would be with JK-5 students from the holding area, joined by JK-5 students reassigned from École King George PS. The school would grow to become JK-8 in 2020. Report #2 discusses a possible delayed implementation for Grades 7 and 8 if there are insufficient students for a viable intermediate division. To learn more about the boundary review please come to the public information session at École King George PS on Wednesday, April 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a presentation from Board Staff followed by a Q & A. Your input will be an important consideration in the writing of the final boundary review report, and the decision of the Board of Trustees on June 23. You can share your thoughts at the public information session, through the online feedback form, or by delegating at upcoming standing committee and board meetings.
