• “I found it amazing how you can feel so
much based on just where your feet are
standing”
Metisse Arsenault
• The sky was a perfect star filled sky. The
water, as still as it was, made a beautiful
mirror, making me feel like I was sitting in
the middle of the universe, with stars on
all sides - canoe trip
Emily Birkett
• “My journey to my magic spot is like my
journey throughout life. Sometimes I spot
a beautiful flower and sometimes I trip
over a rock. The final destination is not
nearly as important as the trail I leave and
things I take with me on the way.
Olivia Carvalho
• “ I cannot imagine a time when I won’t be
stunned by a flock of birds or appreciate
the beauty of the sun going down over a
hill.”
Maggie Davidge
• CELP has given me wisdom I couldn't find
anywhere else; CELP has given me new
perspectives on how and where learning
can take place; CELP has taught me
more than regular school could in just one
semester.
Maggie Forsyth
• I felt so calm and so sure of myself,
looking out over the stillness of the water,
the colours of red and green, the endless
blue sky. I found myself aware that I
belong here. I do not belong to my house,
or my yard, or my possessions. I do not
own any of it. None of us do. I belong to
this land.
Heath Fryer
• The only thing better than eating is
spending time with people while doing it.
Maryam Ghoosi
• “When you are looking for a week of
adventure and obstacles, canoe trips are
the way to go. You endure raw nature, go
for touchdowns in the woods, your outside
24/7 and you are on the move most of the
time. Canoe trips are physically
challenging”
Allison Gray
• I really, really don’t want to leave this
place, these people or just the whole way
we do things here. The freedom we have,
the way we’re all comfortable to be
ourselves and the fun we’ve had, the
whole experience really. I can’t stand the
thought of it ending.
Mason Hietkamp
• “One
thousand trees. We planted
•
one thousand trees in one day to
make our bus carbon neutral. Being
able to say that just makes me
ecstatic; I keep repeating it just for
the nobility and pride that follows”
Kofi Howarth-Shute
• Life is all about choices!
Ana Krajina
• “I feel as if I learned a lot here. Maybe not
things like math, science or other
academic things but about people which I
personally think is a more transferable
skill.”
Emily Lehnen
• Even though you think you might know
nature or have a connection, you can
always find more meaning, discoveries,
and connections in every nook and
cranny.
Johnny Lepage
• Yeah, you don’t really know someone
untill you get lost with them.
Logan MacLeod
• Face everything with your head up, the
best you could do is succeed, the worst, is
learn
Vicki Madziak
• “You can never ever stop exploring
and taking adventures in life
because you have no idea what
may lay ahead. It may turn out to
be the best thing you could’ve
asked for.”
Mia Pearson
• Now that I’m out in nature I’ve come to
realize just how fragile it really is
Elizabeth Pharoah
• I have learned so much through this
semester, but one major thing I am taking
out of this is to not judge a person by their
appearance.
Monica Sanago
• “Looking back this journal in some ways is
like a photo album capturing every
moment and feeling but, I can also catch
the little events or my thoughts as well. I’ll
keep this journal because these pages tell
my Celp story and how I interpret it, every
Celper’s will be different.”
Aleasha Sharman
• One person could do so much
• in a little bit of time
Hannah Wallace-Lund
• “On a canoe trip, you are constantly
moving, portaging, paddling from one
place to another. While being in one
place can create a connection with
that area, moving around in a nomadic
lifestyle can instil a sense of being
part of he land, almost a force of
nature.”
Sarah Wismer
• “Celp has taught me about being an
active citizen and it is an empowering
experience.”
