CELP WINTER - 2011 Josh “Pansy” Beckon I’m sad to see it end but happy to see what is next. 2 3 Jaspar - Otter • All these journals, these projects, these assignments, they aren’t just for my teachers, friends and family to read. They are for me. They are to help me connect to the natural world and express my inner thoughts. They are helping me become one with nature. 4 5 Christina (tadpole) Borgs I do not fear the unknown anymore, I venture into the yet to be discovered. 6 7 Hanna - Bee I have definitely proved to myself that I am capable of way more than I think I am, like, when I pull the sled and get tired I feel like dying sometimes, but then when I finish it is a huge accomplishment. 8 9 Audrey (aka Cardinal) I feel like, for the first time, things are coming together for me… in a very open-ended sort of way. 10 11 Caite - Calypso • “Sitting on the sled was amazing because I could look up and only see trees and sky. I felt so minuscule compared to such a rich forest.” 12 13 Andrew - Kingfisher I couldn’t imagine my life without CELP, without my friends, and without the feeling that I am not alone in this world 14 15 Marnie Cornett (Echo) • Pictures and stories are lovely, movies are fine but it is the things you experience for yourself that make you who your are. 16 17 Nick “blueberry” Elrick • We got to run around the lake today. I really like the feeling of the lake and how each group has their own corner. The stars were so bright with no moon. Tonight, is just another night in paradise. 18 19 Marielle Fernback (Moose) “I can see the sun through the trees and every time I look back at it, it has sunken lower and lower into the sky. I feel peaceful here.” 20 21 Nick - Pine Marten • CELP is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me and has created memories that I will always cherish, friends I will always remember and empowered me to change the way I live for the better. 22 23 Alex “Badger” Kamarianakis • “Celp has changed me. At the end of the semester, I feel more connected to nature and even more connected with myself. Funny how that happens…” 24 25 Allison M - Chickadee “There comes a moment when I look up and notice, with a kind of first time astonishment, the amazing complex delicacy of the wood, the casual ease with which elemental things come together to form a composition that is – perfect.” --Bill Bryson, A Walk in the Woods 26 27 Caleb “Grizzly” Monk CELP has changed my outlook on life. Now, not only have I changed the way I live, but I have realized the consequences of my actions on the Earth. Kendra - Ivy • The roots of my soul have dug down into the soil, interlocking with the roots of the trees and plants. Holding me here. Not letting go. I am a part of here. 30 31 Peter “Peregrine” Quosai (From winter trip solo) “I love my tent group and it’s leaders, but variety is the spice of life, and no matter how much you love oatmeal, it will always taste better with some spice; and some nuts don’t hurt either.” 32 33 Keenu - Ash “At the beginning of CELP when I got asked what it was all about, I wouldn’t know what to say. Now, at the end when I get asked this, I still do not know how to explain CELP, I just have tons of amazing stories to tell from it.” 34 35 Calder - Fog • They said “Welcome to CELP”, they should have said, “Welcome to the World”. 36 37 Camille - Wild Ginger • Don’t be sad that’s it’s over, Be glad that it happened. 38 39 Serena - Tansy • The saying goes that “no one is perfect” but that’s not true. Perfect is who you are in every way. There are no flaws, merely characteristics. Everyone and everything is beautiful and perfect, you just have to look. 40 41 Elise - Sunshine • Things are simple in nature, yet incredibly complex. No two things are ever alike but there is a feeling of simplicity that frees you from the constraints of the daily factory. 42 43 Allison - Daisy • Some people come into our lives leaving footprints on our hearts, never to be the same! 44 45 ...and may you live deliberately ever after
