The Meeting of the Hope College Alcor Chapter of Mortar Board

September 23, 2010
The President called the meeting to order at 10:03pm in MMC 239 to discuss and sign
2010/2011 Attendance Policy. The Vice President continued with a brief re-cap of the
Mortar Board Retreat.
Mortar Board t-shirts were distributed and sweatshirts signed up for.

Committee sign-ups followed. Committee Chairs presented each event and discussed
goals.
1. KIVA - Increase fundraising and Mortar Board publicity
2. Relay for Life - Friday and Saturday November 11 and 12, goal of 100 percent
participation! Fundraising $7,000, time commitments, donations from companies
(advertisement!), relatives, friends, etc. THEME: Pirates, make sure you sign up online!!
3. CASA Pumpkin Carving - two days Wed and Thurs Oct 27th and 28th, looking
for more pumpkin donations, need sign ups to carve out Pumpkins the days before!
4. Thanksgiving Dinner - Sunday Nov. 21st, help setting up and cleaning up.
5. Last Lecture Series - Re-vote for last spot, Professor Hansen (plus Professors
VanWieren, Dandavati), dates to come.
6. President for a Day - not all day, week of January 17th - 21st, Wednesday day
of basketball game!
7. Book Drive - adding more inserts! Monday 9/27 at 9:00am, Lubbers 314
8. Wearing of the Blue Breakfast - Saturday April 9th, mandatory, enjoy breakfast!
9. Dance Marathon - next semester, March 11 and 12th, committee sign ups!
10. Professor Appreciation Night - Spring semester, 4/27, committee sign ups!
11. Compassion Child- Kaitlin Cooper, check out the letters!
12. CASA Stocking Stuffing - Thursday, December 2nd, in conjunction with the
Mortar Board Christmas Party!! :) Bring candy or pencils or whatever to stuff with!
13. Mortar Board Week - January 1/17 through 1/21, everyone support!
14. Disability Prom - Wednesday Dec. 8th, 5 or 5:30pm, stop by, Christmas
Theme, etc! Hoping to make it free for the attendees!
15. Tanzania Project
