It is a lightweight, low density product that is mixed with varying amounts of water to produce the proper consistency for pouring, pumping or troweling into the cavity. Common plaster machines may be used to mix and pump into large openings. • Economical Mortar Seal is paintable with alkali-resistant paint. It does not shrink, assuring a smoke-tight seal when cured. It has a zero flame spread and does not contain solvents or silicones. • Noncombustible, nonhalogenated Applications • No solvents FlameSafe Mortar Seal can be used for all sized openings, but is particularly suited for large openings with multiple metallic or cable penetrations. It is Factory Mutual approved and accepted by the City of New York (MEA 47-98-M Vol. II, MEA 179-96-M Vol. II) and the California State Fire Marshal (4485-1551:100). Installation The surfaces of the penetrants and opening to be sealed must be free of loose dirt, dust or oil. Product should be stored in a dry area until ready for use. Installation temperature should be between 40° to 90°F (4°C to 32°C). FlameSafe Mortar Seal is electrically conductive until dry. Do not apply to energized electrical conductors. Mixing Procedure: Mix with clean water in a suitable container. Slowly add the dry mortar mix to water while stirring by hand, or by power mixer, to ensure a smooth lump free mix. Holes should be sealed with additional mortar or other FlameSafe products. Complete installation instructions are on product label. Maintenance Applications using FlameSafe Mortar Seal are maintenance free, however, installations should be inspected periodically for accidental damage and repaired as per the original approved design.
