A Note from John Tammi!
The Alliance for Bilingual Arts (ABA), a new initiative between Hope and the Holland Civic Theatre, invite you to attend a workshop this coming Saturday (Oct. 25) starting at 2:00 PM. The location is the Civic Theatre at 50 W. 9th Street, a short walk from the campus.
The workshop will focus on exploring ways of presenting bilingual (Spanish/English) poetry.
Knowledge of Spanish is not necessary!
Everyone interested is welcome to this free workshop.
The current working mission of ABA is “to promote bilingual communication through the arts
to educate our community, to build bridges and to share pride in the richness of our heritages.”
While this first workshop if focused on presentation/performing poetry, our objective is to include
all the arts in our future activities. Further explanations and objectives will be discussed during
the workshop on Saturday.
Rich Perez and Sean Zorn are members of the ABA Steering Committee. We are looking for one
or two more theatre students to serve on the committee; talk to Rich and Sean if you are interested.
I hope to see several of you on Saturday!

Grand Rapids City High School
Seeks Director
In this coming year, the Speech and Debate program at Grand Rapids City HS would like to provide a theatrical experience for their students. Two years of highly successful musicals at the school
have demonstrated a desire for theatre in the student body. The stage production would complement these activities (as well as the competitive Forensics program). To provide this opportunity
they are looking for an outside resource (faculty, staff, advanced/graduate student) to help with the
direction and staging. This is a first year, “beta” project, part of a longer-term initiative to embed
speech, debate and the performing arts as an established part of the extracurricular programming
at the school. They anticipate being able to offer a stipend, conditional on present grant requests.
For more information, Contact: William Harris wmrharris@sbcglobal.net or Visit: Talk Talk Talk
