A Message from Dean Bailey
This has been a wonderful
week for the School of Business and
Economics, on top of a fruitful and
productive year. The graduation of
so many young people is quite an
accomplishment and we all should be
proud.
As part of our FOCUS format
for the summer
months, we want to
let our readers know
where our graduates
are being employed
and what careers they
are pursuing. This
information will keep
the SBE family in
touch with their peers
Dr. Jessica Bailey
and will allow
employers to know the
quality of our graduates.
We encourage all graduating
seniors, MBAs and MHAs to let us
know if you have accepted a position
recently. Also, if you know of any
graduates who have accepted
positions, let us know (You can do so
by return email to Mr. Ben Greene at
greenebp@wssu.edu) We will verify
all leads and publish them in FOCUS
during the summer.
In addition to knowing about
your career path, we would like to
keep in touch so that we can continue
to provide updates on the SBE and
forward information about available
employment opportunities. Your
WSSU email will continue to work and
can be used to access library and
other resources, but we would also
like to receive a permanent email and
phone number for each of you. Please
forward this information to Ben
Greene at the address listed above.

Graduates Honored at SBE
Awards Celebration
The families and friends of May
2013 graduates of the School of Business
and Economics gathered with them at
the Hawthorne Inn on Friday, May 17, to
celebrate this milestone in their lives.
The event was presided over by Dr.
Suresh Gopalan, SBE Associate Dean and
featured individual recognitions and
gifts for the graduates.
The event included an evening
buffet banquet, followed by the
awarding of special recognitions of
students who had distinguished
themselves during their matriculations
at WSSU. The three department chairs
of the SBE awarded certificates to
students who deserved special
recognition in their departments and
Dean Jessica Bailey distributed plagues
to the students with the highest GPA’s
in each of the majors. Two students
who were
double majors
received the
awards for the
highest
academic
achievement—
Mr. Agoro and Dr. Madjdj Sadjadi Alexis White,
for both
Accounting and Management
Information Systems, and Almaroof
Agoro, for Economics and Finance.
Lindsay Willis was recognized for the
highest GPA in Business Administration,
Daniell Goodrich for Management and
Sadé Powell for Marketing.
The event concluded with words of
wisdom from the dean. She encouraged
the students to value their degrees and
to make the world a better place. Also,
she asked the graduates to reflect upon
building an appreciation for depth over
superficiality, as well as an appreciation
for silence. The celebration was a truly
joyous occasion.
