Junior Product Designer, (Melbourne, Australia) – 6 Month Contract

Colorific – leading developers of children’s’ products – is looking for the next addition to their growing design
department. Based in Melbourne, this is a rare chance to join an expanding toy design team, to create
children’s products distributed in over 40 countries!
Role Summary: This is a full time role which sits within the product development department, reporting to the
Product Development Manager (New Brands).
The primary focus of this position will be to assist in the design and development of concepts for new toy
brands. The Junior Product Designer will work closely with the product development team to conceptualize,
develop and implement innovative, world class, volume based products.
The Junior Product Designer will operate as support for all major activities which occur within the Product
Development Team.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
These will include but may not be limited to…







Developing innovative product concepts
Creating tooling specifications and other 3D CAD documentation/ imagery.
Market focused idea generation for volume products
Carrying out research and analysis of market trends
Generating cost estimates for new product concepts
Generating presentation materials for internal stakeholders or external presentations.
Producing mock ups , models, and prototypes as required
To Be Successful, you must have:
 Relevant qualification in Industrial Design/Product Design/Product Design Engineering
 Prior experience in a creative role will be looked upon favourably.
 Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
Key Skills
The successful applicant will need to exhibit the following qualities:
 A demonstrated ability (via folio) to think creatively
 Strong visual presentation skills (sketching, 3D modelling, photography, physical mock-ups, etc.)
 Excellent written & verbal communication skills
 A keen eye for design and trends
 Attention to detail
 A proactive approach to learning and time management
 Capable of working in a fast paced environment
 Adept use of preferred software packages, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and
Solidworks
 An enthusiastic approach and be self motivated
 A pro-active, professional, positive team player approach
 A good sense of fun and creativity
 A strong interest in toys/children’s products and new product development
 Knowledge of toy products will be looked upon favourably.
