Many children with hearing loss process visual
information more effectively than auditory
information. Using strategies, including the use of
graphic models and video modeling to teach deaf
and hard of hearing children taps into their
strongest processing modality.
Meaningful graphics and videos can motivate
children to repeatedly review the information. This
repeated exposure and practice helps them to
acquire new skills.

Children are often highly interested, motivated, and
thus attentive to videos.
Many children enjoy watching the same video over
and over again. This repeated exposure and
practice helps the child to acquire the new skill, and
it allows students with diverse needs learn at their
own pace.
The recorded segments can be made by the parent,
therapist, teacher, or the student. Professionally
made ones can also be purchased.
