This course will be completed entirely online. Students will be working individually and in groups to complete assignments, just as they would in a traditional classroom. If there are questions about any assignment, I have included my office hours, and phone number above. I also included my e-mail address, which you may use at any time of the day or night, and can expect a response within 24 hours. Looking forward to working with you in this virtual classroom! Standards: The following Delaware Grade Level Expectations will be met in the completion of this course: 3.4 Use Pythagorean’s Theorem to find the missing sides of right triangles. Assignments: In order to meet the math standards, students will complete the following assignments: Week 1: How are the sides of a right triangle related? o Complete Introduction Activities o Contribute to the Week 1 Discussion Board o Investigate the relationship of the sides of right triangles o Create screencast to demonstrate your learning Week 2: How can you find the length of the missing side of a right triangle? o Contribute to the Week 2 Discussion Board o Investigate how to find the missing side of a right triangle o Complete the worksheet, Solving for the Missing Side o Complete Pythagorean Theorem Assessment Week 3: How can I use what I know about right triangles in the real world? o Contribute to the Week 3 Discussion Board o Complete the assignment; How Big is the Ballpark? o Revisit and respond to the original KWL posts on the Discussion Board Assessment and Evaluation Use the lesson essential questions to monitor your progress. Make sure you are able to answer that question that is being asked each week. Completion got the discussion board may also help you self-assess There will be a quiz after your investigations in week 2. Use the activities from that week to help you prepare for it. Your final assessment will come from a project you and your classmates will work on a collaboratively in week 3. It will require you to take what you learned and apply it to real world scenarios. The rubric for this assignment is located on the menu bar under “Grading Rubric” Policies: All assignments are due by 8 pm Sunday. Assignments are due the same week it is assigned, unless otherwise stated. A missing assignment will result in a zero, be sure to turn in assignments on time!
