World War Two. During the war the country was invaded by the
Japanese. When the Japanese left, the people in Vietnam decided
to organize their own government, which would be lead by Ho Chi
Minh. After the war the allies gave South Vietnam back to the
French, and left North Vietnam in the hands of the non-communist
Chinese. The Chinese treated North Vietnam badly, and support
for Ho Chi Minh began to grow.
