Sustainable Vision Grants
New from the NCIIA!
•
The NCIIA is delighted to announce the arrival of Sustainable Vision, our
newest grants program. These exploratory grants of up to $50,000 will
support the creation of new US and international initiatives and will help
define transferable and replicable models for effective and sustainable
technology entrepreneurship.
•
Sustainable Vision grants will fund innovative educational programs that
move ideas to commercialization for the benefit of the environment and
people in need. The grants will support enrichment and deepening of
ongoing programs by building and strengthening interpersonal and interinstitutional networks, and creating new initiatives within existing programs.
We are also pleased to announce the fall 2006 issue of the International
Journal for Service Learning in Engineering (IJSLE) is now available. We
hope many of you will read and become contributors to this new resource.
The journal, which is hosted by the College of Engineering at Penn State
and is sponsored by NCIIA, may be found at: http://www.ijsle.org

share their success stories, and for new and established programs to
learn how to enhance their offerings.
Sponsored by the Stanford Technology Ventures Program within the
School of Engineering which is dedicated to accelerating high-technology
entrepreneurship research and education for engineers and scientists

Kauffman Foundation
Collegiate Entrepreneurship
“ Helping universities become more
entrepreneurial – not only in what they
teach and how they teach it, but in how they
operate – is at the heart of the Kauffman
Foundation’s work. We recognize that
university environments are natural
breeding grounds for creativity, the
exchange of ideas, and the synthesis of
those elements into new ways of looking at
and studying things – in some cases
resulting in the emergence of entirely new
academic fields.” www.kauffman.org

Lemelson Foundation
………..celebrates and supports inventors and
entrepreneurs to strengthen social and economic life.
•
3iVision (inspiring invention & innovation) is the web channel devoted to invention
and innovation—presenting a wide choice of video clips from Lemelson
Foundation and funded program's events. Programming includes the "Innovative
Lives" series of lectures, the "March Madness of the Mind" E-Teams competitions,
and biographies of Lemelson-MIT Prize winners. Historical footage is archived and
searchable. New movies are added frequently.
•
In his interview for the "Inventors" series on the Discovery Channel, Jerome
Lemelson stated:"What I consider to be one of my best innovations...an E-Team is
a group of students who train to go into business and develop products in the
future while at school."
•
A common thread running through Foundation programs is students working in
teams to gain practical experience in invention, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
The Lemelson Foundation calls this approach "E-Teams" (for excellence and
entrepreneurship), and pursues the wider adoption of this approach through its
funded programs.
