MAP your way to the top!
From Snr Sales Director Doyin Olorunfemi
One of the secrets of success I ‘ve learnt in life is to find someone who is
successful and learn from them. Lets learn from our Snr and current
Director of No.1 Unit in the UK – Doyin Olorunfemi!
One of the most phenomenal trainings I have ever had in Mary Kay is the
training on MAP by Karen Savage Bark. Karen defined MAP as your Minimum
Acceptable Performance level, as a kind of service level agreement you have
with yourself. The MAP is a baseline you never fall below come-what-may.
The MAP is a choice, not a fluke and it dictates the daily, weekly and monthly
actions in your business. Karen suggested every consultant should have a
sales, recruiting, and most importantly customer service MAP. I remember
sitting in that room 5 years ago, 6 months pregnant with my youngest
daughter, wondering how I will have the strength to abide by these MAP levels
and actually considered not writing them. You know what, I am glad I wrote
that MAP because without it, I might have given up at the many challenges
that are synonymous with new baby and pregnancy. However, the MAP
somehow kept me in check. It made me feel I owed myself something I had to
fulfil, thank God!
In life, especially when self employed, it is easy to settle for below-par
standards with an allusion to the fact that ‘I am trying my best’. The only
thing is that what we consider our best might not be stretching us to our
potential. Life is only lived well when you go to bed knowing that you have
maximised your God-given potential that day. In this piece, as we go into the
final quarter of this Seminar year, I will be showing you just how to set your
MAP by sharing with you what I wrote down that day and hopefully this will
spur you on to enjoying your Mary Kay journey.

Sales goals – I set myself a minimum sales target of £250 a week. I
could somehow see myself selling £50 a day either through 1-on-1
appointments or making phone calls for reorder
I will always be a star consultant, preferably a Ruby star. I
understood that selling £250 a week was equivalent to about £3000
sales a quarter.
I will have a minimum of 5 new team members every quarter. This
meant I would have 20 by the end of the year and be in the Court of
Recruiting.
I was going to have 2 new skin care customers every week, come what
may. Now this was the most difficult of the lot but I immediately saw
how this could get me 100 customers a year which could only mean
stability and constant growth in my business so I bit my teeth into it.
Lastly I was determined to keep these customers for life. I therefore
chose to deliver all products to my customers within 48 hours of it
being ordered on the internet or phone. This meant I had to constantly
keep a fair amount of stock. This is my reputation now and has earned
me a constant flow of referrals from my impressed customers.
