M Y M ATH L AB : T HE G RADEBOOK L OG IN AND GET INTO YOUR COURSE Go to: www.coursecompass.com Click here and log on. O NCE YOU ARE LOGGED IN You will see all the courses you have ever taught using MyMathLab. Click on your current course. G ETTING INTO THE G RADEBOOK Once you are in your course, at the bottom of the screen, click on “control panel.” This is how you get into all the instructor functions of the course. G ETTING INTO THE G RADEBOOK The most important places you will go…. 1. The gradebook, to see how students are doing 3. Announcements, to let students know what you want them to do next. 2. The homework/ test manager, to alter assignments T HE G RADEBOOK If you click on gradebook now, this is what you will see: There are no students! T HE G RADEBOOK If you click on gradebook later in the semester, I hope you will see: You can see what they have done by selecting homework or quizzes or tests….. Or pick an individual student to view. Lots of students! C LICK ON “ GRADEBOOK ” OFTEN TO SEE WHETHER YOUR STUDENT HAVE LOGGED ON ! Many professors have gotten nearly 100% of their students on board! Constant harassment is key! Encourage your students to use MML by making sure they buy a new book or the access code. Details are in the syllabus. The access code alone is cheaper than a used book. Walk out to the computers after class and help the hold-out students log on. YOU CAN ADD OTHER GRADES FROM PAPER AND PENCIL QUIZZES OR TESTS . 1. Choose “More Gradebook tools,” 2. “Add offline items.” 3. 4. T RY VARIOUS WEIGHTS AND POINT VALUES Once you have it set up, you can enter how they did manually for each student. 100 95 T HE MML GRADEBOOK IS A GREAT WAY FOR STUDENTS TO SEE THEIR GRADES It allows your students to keep track of their grades in a private, secure way. It allows you to calculate midterm and final grades without Excel or other software. Caution: it is probably still a good idea to give each student a paper copy of how they are doing at least three times during the semester. TO GET SUPPORT AND TO DISCUSS IMPLEMENTATION Visit to our Blackboard discussion: Go to Bmcc.cuny.edu, then click on cuny portal at the top. Click on portal login, then on Blackboard Direct, then type in your Blackboard login (contact the BMCC help desk if you have trouble here). Under organization search (on the bottom left), type BMCC Math. Look for BMCC_Math_Dept and click on enroll. Now our department will show up under groups. Go into that group and click on discussions.
