Research Paper Topic List Review the list of potential research paper topics and select 5 possible topics that you would like to research for your paper. Remember that you can come up with your own topic for research, but you must clear it with me first! A number of these topics are considered “controversial”, so it is possible for two students to research the same topic, but from different sides of the issue. Additionally, many, if not all, of these topics will need a more narrow focus and, of course, a thesis statement (states what you will be proving in relation to your topic). Remember that a research paper is not simply a regurgitation of factual information on a broad topic; instead, a research paper develops a writer’s specific perspective on a topic and provides factual evidence in support of that perspective in a logical order and structure.
