result, a fear of communism spread and
immigration to the U.S. was limited.

• Russian Revolution
• Massive strikes by
workers after WWI

communist or

and Vanzetti
were Italian immigrants
arrested and convicted
of murder in the early
1920s

believed they
were found guilty of
being immigrants

Klan emerged in
the 1920s not only in
the South, but many
parts of the country

discriminated against
blacks, Catholics,
immigrants
 (anyone not White,
Anglo-Saxon,
Protestant)

of members
joined the KKK in the
1920s

that lasted into the
