Course Title:
Advanced Strategic Management
Course Description: The course focuses on the application of conceptual models that clarify the
interactions between external competition, firm positioning, patterns of
technological and market change, and the nature and development of
internal firm capabilities. We will develop a set of tools which are crucial
for the formulation and management of a winning technology strategy.

Learning Objectives: By the successful completion of this course, the student shall be able to:
1. Describe the new competitive landscape and how it is being shaped by
global and technological changes.
2. Explain how value chain analysis is used to identify and evaluate a
firm’s resources and capabilities.
3. Define strategy and explain business-level strategies.
4. Define corporate-level strategy and discuss its importance to the
diversified firm.
5. Describe how a firm can achieve successful outcomes from a
restructuring strategy.
